The Bailey Shield
The Club's first Trophy was the Bailey Shield.
This was donated by Eric Bailey, the fourth winner of the Championship in 1971, and joint winner in 1979.
This Shield was held by each winner for the year in which he was Champion, and his name is inscribed on one of the small Shields.
The Shield was in use for 40 years until the 2007 season, by which time all the small shields were filled.
The Bailey Shield is now retired from use and resides in the Club Archive.
A new Trophy was required to replace the Bailey Shield which was full, so a new Shield was obtained, named in honour of our Founder,
former President, and Benefactor of the Club, Ivor Davies.
The Ivor Davies Trophy was first awarded to the joint winners of the 2007 / 2008 season and will now be passed round all winners for the next 25 years.
The Secretary’s Trophy was awarded to the winner of the two residential congresses that were held in 1987 & 1992 (see archive)
which were won by John Morris and David Hulme respectively.
