Duncan Chambers Retires as Secretary

After 11 years as BFCC Secretary, Duncan Chambers has decided to retire. In recognition of his commitment & service to BFCC over that period, he has been presented with two gifts ( chess motif bookends & a quality pen) as a thank you. The photo below shows him being presented with his retirement gifts by BFCC President Richard Hall.  Thank you Duncan! Colin Cheek has taken over as BFCC Secretary & we wish him well in his new role.

County & District CC Championships 2014/15

The three Divisions of the County & District CC Championship for 2014/15 are all now underway. Altogether, 30 teams & 240 players are involved. All team crosstables & games are now maintained on the ICCF webserver.

Chess 960 Match: Russia v Rest of the World

The ICCF is holding this event, and England is invited to nominate five players and any reserves for this match.
           With Chess 960 events initial positions are different at each board.  At each board, two games are played, one with White pieces, one with Black pieces. Time control is 10 moves in 50 days. The games are rated in the ICCF chess 960 rating system. The start date is 1st December 2014. There is no entry fee.

Cuba - England 2012

After nearly two years of play the 26 board  Cuba – England match 2012 has just concluded with a clear win for England by the score of 39-13. The completed cross table may be seen at https://www.iccf.com/event?id=30998 . Thank you to all who represented England in this match.

ICCF Congress 2014 in Australia - Pictures

The ICCF (International Correspondence Chess Federation) is currently holding its Annual Congress. Every year they go to a different federation to host the event & this year it is in Sydney, Australia. Austin Lockwood of Wales is collecting the English Title Awards on our behalf - below are some pictures.

County & District CC Championships

All games have now finished in the Ward-Higgs (Division 1) and the Sinclair (Division 2) of the County & District CC Championship. The Ward-Higgs was won by Yorkshire and all the games can be seen here:- https://www.iccf.com/event?id=40069 The Sinclair was won by Yorkshire C with West Wales in 2nd place. So West Wales are promoted to the Ward-Higgs. All the games can be viewed here:- https://www.iccf.com/event?id=40070  .  Entries are currently being taken for the 2014/15 season.

 

European Championship Semi-Final

ICCF have launched new European Championship Semi-Finals, as part of their ongoing re-vamp of the European Championship. The full announcement can be seen here:- https://www.iccf.com/message?message=825 If you qualify, you can enter via ICCF Direct Entry (Cost 39.37 Euros) or you can enter through EFCC at a cost of £20.00. If you wish to enter through EFCC, you can use the Online Fee payment in the left-hand Menu. Please remember you need to be a member of an EFCC affiliated organisation (such as BCCA or Scheming Mind etc) or a EFCC Vice-President to enter through EFCC.
