One of the main functions of the BCCA is to encourage correspondence chess by arranging matches with other chess clubs, associations, and organisations.

Stan Grayland is the BCCA Match Captain who organises matches against external opponents to encourage chess, raise the BCCA profile and give free chess games to our members.

Matches are usually organised by webserver, although still occasionally by post. In any match each player plays one opponent (2 games).
