The Selected Openings tournaments feature a variety of opportunities to play from a set position. The tournament is now managed by Dave Grobler who has kindly sent me details of the latest tournaments. These feature an excellent range of starting positions including a main theme plus some gambits and counter-gambits. The main theme is a Modern Queens Gambit Main Line with first moves being 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 b6 4.g3 Ba6 5.b3 Bb7 6.Bg2 Bb4+ 7.Bd2 c5.<\/p>\n

Other tournaments feature the Sicilian – Portsmouth Gambit, the Max Lange, the Urusov Gambit and the Chatard-Alekhine Attack. The Counter Gambit tournaments feature the Winawer Counter Gambit, the Henning Schara, the Adelaide Counter – Gambit and the Bellon Gambit.<\/p>\n
